Praying or Cursing?

I found this Irish prayer to be funny....

May those who love us love us,
and those who do not love us,
may God turn their hearts,
and if He cannot turn their hearts
may He turn their ankles
that we may know them by their limping.

Lucky Luck: Fortune Sticks

This is like a juke box. Inside the window screen is a small figurine or a  blessed statue decorated with colorful flickering lights.  People who like to know their fortune  will  lit the incense and  concentrate to pray for their good luck before shaking the canister filled with bamboo sticks.  Several bamboo sticks have  words, numbers or codes  written on them . People will shake the canister with their  intention or prayer until one stick falls out.  Not anyone can just play for his fortune with this fortune sticks.  You can’t just close your eyes, concentrate , shake for your fortune ,then just select for a more  favorable one .   Which stick falls in front of you while shaking the canister is your fortune. The fortune on that stick has a corresponding meaning or interpretation for  you to see and may take along. How about if several sticks fall out from the canister?  It happened when our friend did shake shake, shake the canister.  So ,she did  it again, this time she concentrated  and there was only stick  in front of her.  She slowly picked the bamboo stick and saw the number printed on it. She went to see the small pieces of paper  (where she can read the meaning of her fortune)   posted on the board but unluckily there weren’t any paper. The decoding papers had gone out.  How will she know her fate ? Who will interpret her fortune?

 The Giant Trees
1.Today I would like to show you these not extra –ordinary trees which Thais pay respect to.  They strongly believe that there is luck brought by these giant trees.
Four days ago while on our way home from Big C, the Thai teacher, our driver decided  to bring us (my hubby, me, Tina ,Maem and Baby Om) to a nearby temple in Srakeao where these dead giant trees were awaiting luck-hunters.
3304 years old
3334 years old

This old tree was believed to be 3,334 years old.  This sleeping log was brought to the temple as it was relayed from mouth to mouth that an old monk dreamt that this old tree should be placed near that  temple. As time goes by, Thais came to pay respect, do dancing, pray and offer goods for them to be lucky.

2 . The Big Jars
.This big jar beside the tree is  like the wishing well.  Thais believe that lucky people could see numbers-perfect numbers for lottery.   I did not see  any number even though how much I tried .  In every corner were the lame people selling lotteries.  One man was calling for me to buy his ticket but I wasn’t sure.  I liked to win but I did not see  any number in the jar. I might ask my hubby about it.  There he was busy taking pictures.  I walked towards my husband pretended not  to see the man waving at me to buy his tickets.
